Missions with the First Baptist Church Family

First Baptist encourages every member to become involved in the many missions programs and projects planned throughout the year. There are opportunities for participation at the individual, family, organizational, and classroom levels.

Missions Ministry

We Support Missions Because:

“Jesus drew near and said to them… ‘Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age.’” Matthew 28:18-20

 

Annie Armstrong Easter Offering

During March and early April, our church family will join with other Southern Baptist churches in praying for North American missionaries and giving to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering (AAEO).

One hundred percent of dollars given to the AAEO goes to support thousands of missionaries and their ministries in the United States and Canada.   

You are invited to prayerfully consider how God wants you to respond.

Mission Opportunities 2013

Local Missions in Roswell:

  • The Drake House
    • A ministry to abandoned mothers and children.  Volunteer advocates are needed to work with mothers and children.  Bible study classes are responsible for upkeep of apartments and $300 a month utility cost

  • Hope for Grieving Children
    • A support group ministry to children whose parents or siblings have died.
    • Groups meet for a six week session in the spring and fall
    • Volunteers are needed to work with the children

  • North Fulton Child Development Association
    • A ministry to children of the working poor
    • Volunteers are needed to read to the children

    • A ministry of food and clothing for the needy
    • Food drives twice a year

  • Waller Park Lunches
    • A ministry preparing sack lunches for children in day camp during the second week of August

  • Language Ministries
    • A ministry of teaching conversational English on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm  to 8:00 pm.
    • Volunteers are needed, training will be provided, no foreign language necessary or desired

  • Hispanic Church
    • A ministry to those who speak Spanish every Sunday from 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
    • Hosting Hispanic Block Parties off site, such as Frazier Street

  • Women on Mission
    • A ministry promoting prayer, support and the study of missions
    • Two groups meet: One group meets monthly on the 1st Tuesday during the day, another group meets the 1st Tuesday night of the middle of the month each quarter.

  • Roswell Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center
    • A ministry to celebrate residents birthdays every 2nd Monday of the month
